Introductions and welcome

Thanks to Joanne Belanger and Greg Rakauskas for the great STEAD Website!

Chapel Hill Workshop: Highlights

  • The value of polishing pieces
  • The excitement and fun
  • The vitality of Terry Durbin’s teaching and how meaningful it was for students, parents and teachers
  • Imagery
  • Laughter
  • The environment was WONDERFUL! Including performance space, place for kids to play and ample parking!
  • Highly motivating
  • Master Classes-one point lessons

Performance Opportunities: Have your child play for family at home, extended family during visits, nursing homes, school, as often as possible.

We talked about the impact of music on our families. The joy of music making.

Maxine Parris, music therapist, talked about her work at the VA and how meaningful music is to us as people

Motivation: What works for one child, might not work for another. Learn from your child (feedback loop); share with one another; check out the internet for good ideas. Enjoy the small steps!

The value of the social aspects of Suzuki training. Go to workshops, institutes, group lessons, have friends over to play, observe other lessons.

Be grateful that we have this opportunity to provide the gift of music to our children.

It was a wonderful group of wise and insightful parents. Thank you, all for coming and sharing your good ideas!
