January 24, 2005

Dear Suzuki Violin Students, Parents and Teachers:

You are invited to join the students of the Suzuki Academy in the first annual Strings Play-a-thon to benefit the victims of the tsunami and other children in need. All of the donations received will be sent directly to UNICEF.

Students may collect sponsorships in the form of a flat donation or a pledge per piece played from February 13 – March 13, 2005. During this time, students should keep careful track of how many pieces they play. Students may play a piece more than once. What a great opportunity to polish review pieces!

Click here for the pledge form (in Acrobat PDF format).

Everyone invited to participate in the Strings Play-a-thon concert/play-in. The play-in will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2005 from 2:30-4:00 p.m. at The Arts Center (http://www.artscenterlive.org/directions.html) in Carrboro. Pre-Twinklers and Twinklers who would like to participate may play Book 1 pieces on an open string. Violinists should practice Book 1 pieces in D Major. You are also encouraged to hold your own play-a-thon parties and play-dates.

Please make checks payable to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and send donations to the Suzuki Academy by March 21, 2005.

We hope you have fun!

Best regards,

Ingrid Wieler
